Miao Anyun: What Acting in Women’s Clothes? I Refuse From the Bottom of My Heart

After class, it was time for the lunch break. After he finished eating lunch, Miao Anyun walked towards the school library with a book in hand, planning to go read in the library.

Don’t ask why Lin Haoyan wasn’t there. Only ghosts knew what he had been busy with recently.

As a second year high school student, the importance attached to schoolwork increased. Even though he already went through the college entrance exam in his previous life, it had already been many years, and all the knowledge he had learned before had long been returned to his teacher.

Even though this was an aristocratic school, Miao Anyun didn’t want to just muddle through school in order to get a diploma. It had already been a long time since he could just relax as he went through life, without having to worry about anything besides school. He also didn’t have to experience anger and pain from his illness every day. Miao Anyun expressed that he was considerably satisfied with this healthy outer shell.

”Hey! Miao Anyun, wait for me!” Xia Youyou trotted to catch up with Miao Anyun.

”What did you come to find me for?” Miao Anyun held his book and stopped indifferently, tilting his head to look at the panting and gasping for breath Xia Youyou. He didn’t know why, but the female lead had been pestering him constantly recently.

”I can’t find you without a reason?” Xia Youyou said, feeling a little wronged. As the eldest young miss from the Xia family, she had been spoiled from when she was a child. When had she ever had to suppress her anger? And that person wasn’t even grateful.

”So meaningless.” Miao Anyun only looked at her coldly before turning and walking away. He didn’t pay any attention to the irate Xia Youyou.

  Library

Miao Anyun randomly found a seat and sat down, flipping through the book in his hand. Even though it was said that his knowledge had been returned to the teacher, Miao Anyun’s memory couldn’t be considered bad, so he still remembered bits and pieces of everything.

After reading just a little bit of the textbook, he would basically be able to recall most of the information. Then, he would just need to spend his time relearning the little bit of information left that he didn’t remember. Fortunately, he hadn’t come too late. There was still plenty of time for him to get ready for the college entrance exam.

The library was very quiet and only the sound of pages flipping could be heard. Because it was the lunch break, there weren’t many people in the library.

Chen Churong seemed to be intently reading the book she was holding, but she was actually sneaking peeks at the school idol Miao Anyun, who was not far away.

The youth sitting close by had short black layered hair, which seemed like it would feel good to the touch. His black obsidian eyes were currently focused on the materials in his hand. His exquisite face was expressionless, but it wasn’t as cold as usual, giving people the impression that he was extremely focused.

Chen Churong didn’t show it on her face, but she was actually screaming in her heart. As if she had just thought of something, she silently reached into her bag and took out her phone. Using her book as a cover, she sneakily took a picture and sent it to her roommates. Because she was in a library, her phone had long been turned to silent out of habit, so she wasn’t afraid of getting caught.

[Chen Churong: The male god is really in the library right now ah ah ah!!! A real live male god! [scream][image] I really want to turn into the book that’s in the male god’s hand! [drool]

Yang Xiaozhen: Damn, Churong, is the male god still there? Can I still make it if I go now?! [starry eyes]

Zhu Yuhui: The male god is so handsome! Lick lick lick! [drool] Take me with you to the library! [heart]

Xiong Guhan: Be more quiet, you guys. Is it that exaggerated? I don’t really see the point. [doubt] [helpless]

Chen Churong and Yang Xiaozhen and Zhu Yuhui: Guhan, you must be blind! You should hold back from saying your feelings. [despise]

Chen Churong: The male god is still here. Those who want to come, come!]

Fanatics who loved Miao Anyun didn’t consist of just Chen Churong and her roommates. Actually, over half of the female students at Gelasse College were all fascinated by the two school idols of the college. Those like Chen Churong who called her roommates over weren’t in the minority. Hence, more and more people came to the library, most of whom were girls.

Miao Anyun, who was quietly reading his book, didn’t even notice that he had been surrounded by fangirls. He just felt that the number of people in the library suddenly increased. He didn’t care too much though and honestly assumed that everyone was usually just obsessed with learning. It couldn’t be that they had come to watch him, could it?

Miao Little Yun, you’re really too naive. Did you really think that everyone likes to learn as much as you? Worlds based off of novels were just this callous. Its people would create trouble for no reason. This large group of people really did run over just to watch you.

The fangirls secretly opened a chat window in which they knelt down and licked their male god, completely unaware that the other school idol had also appeared here.

Miao Anyun, who was concentrated on learning, also didn’t notice. Not far from where he sat, Lin Haoyan, who had been missing for many days, was perversely secretly rubbing his hands.

Lin Haoyan: Hehehe, Miao Anyun’s concentrated appearance looks really delicious. I really want to take a bite (?﹃?)

Pervert classmate, does your family’s Little Yun know what you’re thinking? Ah, he clearly doesn’t know. ╮(╯_╰)╭

And so, Miao Anyun passed the afternoon immersed in his studies. The fangirls (?) also passed their afternoons in a wonderful way.

Don’t ask how Miao Anyun didn’t notice he was being peeped at by other people. Apart from being absorbed with learning, it could probably be said——he was used to it.

  ————————

That afternoon, the homework load was as heavy as ever. Before school ended, the teacher told everyone to stay behind, telling them what their class would be performing this time at the school celebration.

”For this school celebration, our class will be performing a play. You guys have also discussed this before. There were two options that received a lot of support. Now, we will draw lots to decide which one we will be performing.” The teacher smiled and shook the two slips of paper in his hand. “I’ll randomly draw a student’s number, and that student will draw lots on behalf of the whole class.”

The number on the screen jumped, and then stopped at 34.

  ”Number 34.”

  Miao Anyun: …

Since he had been chosen, there was no other way. Miao Anyun could only silently walk to the podium. He randomly picked one and gave it to the teacher. Well, regardless of whether it was “Sleeping Beauty” or “Snow White” that was picked, it didn’t matter. Both had the same number of pits1.

Why did an aristocratic school have to do something like performing in a play? And why did they have to act out this kind of pitted script? Where was the sense of class that separated the rich from the poor? Miao Anyun expressed that he also didn’t know.

The teacher was very direct and efficient (probably because he didn’t need to act in the play?) as he unfolded the slip of paper. On it was written “Snow White.” So, it was happily decided that their class would be performing “Snow White” for their school’s anniversary celebration.

”Here are 43 slips of paper. Everyone should come up to draw their role for the performance. Students who draw blank slips don’t need to act in the play!” The teacher took out a box for drawing lots and walked down from the podium.

The teacher had prepared two of these kinds of boxes. After all, he hadn’t known whether “Sleeping Beauty” or “Snow White” would be picked.

Everyone drew their slip of paper quickly. From time to time, the sound of laughter could be heard as someone drew a role they liked or drew a blank slip. There would also be the sound of wailing as unfortunate people drew a pitted role. In brief, the teacher reached Miao Anyun’s seat in the fourth row very quickly.

Miao Anyun: …Why do I have an ominous premonition?

Miao Anyun, whose heart felt faintly uneasy and doubtful, hesitated for a while. Then, he realized that he would have to draw his role sooner or later, so he may as well do it quickly, so as to not waste everyone else’s time. He promptly pulled out a slip of paper.

At the urging of the teacher, Miao Anyun unfolded the little slip of paper with the attitude of a martyr.

On the little snow white sheet of paper, written in a flowery font, was the word——princess.

Miao Anyun’s face darkened. He stared at the little slip of paper with fiery eyes, seeming as if he wanted to burn a hole in it. Unfortunately, the result didn’t change.

By his side, the teacher suppressed a smile. He recorded his name and the word “princess” next to it. Then, he continued to the next student’s seat without pause.

Upon seeing his sweetheart’s dark face, Lin Haoyan was a little curious and sneakily moved closer. Upon seeing the paper in his sweetheart’s hand that said “princess,” the originally similarly unhappy Lin Haoyan nearly laughed aloud.

The reason was very simple. Written in the same font on his paper was the word——prince.

Lin Haoyan recalled the plot of “Snow White” and just wanted to laugh loudly towards the heavens. In order to maintain his image in front of his sweetheart, he barely managed to prevent himself from actually laughing.

He could honorably kiss Little Yun. He felt excited just thinking about it! Lin Haoyan’s heart was filled with all sorts of happiness.

Xia Youyou looked at her seemingly-epileptic desk mate with the gaze she would use to look at a crazy person. After thinking about it for two seconds, she silently shifted to the side. Even though she really wanted to know what Brother Yun’s role was, when she saw Miao Anyun’s dark and clouded handsome face that was becoming colder and colder, she couldn’t muster up the courage to go ask QWQ

In any case, after everyone was done drawing lots, everyone’s role would be displayed. There was no need to be so hurried, Xia Youyou thought.

After everyone had finished drawing lots, the teacher wrote the list of roles on the blackboard. When they saw the words “princess—Miao Anyun,” the whole class turned in unison to look at a certain school idol whose face was as dark as before. Under the pressure of a certain someone emitting more and more cold air, they silently turned their heads back.

Boys: Hahaha, we’ll never be jealous of you getting the girls’ attention ever again [candle][candle][candle]2

Girls: Our hearts ache for the male god, but upon thinking about it, this picture seems to carry a certain feeling _(:зゝ∠)_

As for the Miao Anyun who was emitting cold air, he had already started thinking about the probability of making himself sick the day before the school celebration. Then he suddenly remembered that he was going to represent the music club in a performance. His face couldn’t help but darken even more.

After waiting for the students to calm down, the teacher slowly and unhurriedly said, “Tomorrow is the school’s anniversary celebration. There is already no time left to practice, so it’s up to everyone to improvise and do their best. I have already sent you guys the script. Everyone has to work hard and help our class win a prize!” The teacher made a cheering gesture and left freely with an outwardly kind, but inwardly evil smile.

  ”Ah!?” × N

The students who were left behind watched the teacher walk away with a dazed expression.

Teacher, come back and make it clear! Did you really not do this on purpose?!!

The teacher gave a duplicitous smile, expressing that he had done this on purpose. He also couldn’t do anything about the school’s arrangement [innocent][spread hands]

  ————————

Miao Anyun, who was in a bad mood, looked at the female supporting lead who had her head lowered. He coldly asked what she wanted.

”That, I… ” Chu Yexuan twisted the corners of her clothes and finally managed to muster up her courage before Miao Anyun became impatient. “Brother Anyun, for the school celebration dance, could- could you be my partner?”

As soon as he heard the two words “school celebration,” Miao Anyun’s face darkened subconsciously. He completely didn’t register Chu Yexuan’s request and carelessly nodded his head impatiently. Then, he directly left without waiting for Chu Yexuan’s response.

When he returned home, he still had to deal with that annoying script!

Seeing that Miao Anyun seemed to have agreed, Chu Yexuan became overjoyed and didn’t mind that Miao Anyun had just left. She gazed at Miao Anyun’s back and smiled sweetly.

  Brother Anyun promised me…

Footnotes:

[1]: pits/pitted (坑爹, kēng diē)- basically cheating people. Pits in Chinese usually mean something like… a pit trap dug out for other people to fall in. So there’s a sort of “I’ve been cheated” feeling. This is also the same pits as in “brain pits,” which is where someone is lacking common sense (their brain has holes). Anyway, so basically these plays both feel stupid to Miao Anyun. Miao Anyun feels cheated. ^o^

[2]: candle (蜡烛, là zhú)- short for “light a candle,” which is what you do when you think someone’s going to die (have a bad time), so you pray for them by lighting a candle. Basically, “You’re in for a rough time and basically dead. I wish you good luck.”
